A dental cavity is a hole in the tooth due to tooth decay, which happens when plaque, a sticky substance that accumulates on the teeth, mixes with sugars or starches of the food we take in. This fusion results in the making of acids that attack the tooth enamel. Tooth decay is the second most common disease in the US. To avoid cavities, brush your teeth correctly at least two times a day using a toothpaste with fluoride and floss everyday to remove food debris from between the teeth. Have the correct nutrition to improve your dental health. Eat healthy foods and do away with snacks and drinks that have high sugar content.
