Cavities is one of the surest signs of poor teeth care and unbeknown to most it can occur in the most unlikely places. When we talk of cavities, it is more associated with the crown or the top-part of the tooth which contacts food and other teeth as we eat day by day. Cavities on the sides are some of the hardest to spot, becoming apparent only when it is already too late and extraction is the only solution.
Cavities on the sides of teeth can have a devastating effect on the overall stability of teeth making them unstable to support crowns or jackets. Even the underside of teeth can be a breeding ground for bacteria that eats away the enamel of teeth from under the gum line leaving the tooth to crumble and fail in the most inconvenient times.
Regular dental visits are still the best solution to allow proper care for it allows early detection of problems before they become untreatable. Better imaging and diagnostic tools allow tooth density checking without the hazards of x-rays.
